Why are shoulders so prone to injury when doing strength training?

In contrast to the other joints, your shoulders are mainly stabilized with muscles, tendons and ligaments rather than bones. This makes them very flexible, but also prone to injury: Around 40 percent of injuries in strength training affect the shoulders. The most common injuries are torn or pulled muscles - mostly when people overestimate their strength and try to lift too much weight – so make sure you've completely recovered.
